The ancient mysteries depicted the goddess Isis clothed in a veil, which only the great priests, the hierophants, were allowed to remove. This means that those who want to contemplate the Divinity must themselves be naked, that is, pure; otherwise, it will always remain veiled to them, and they will not succeed in discovering its secrets. As people gradually purify themselves, Isis unveils before them. Then they see, they understand, and all they experience is light and joy. That is true paradise."
