"Os discípulos de uma Escola Iniciática que procuram aceder ao mundo espiritual sem terem feito previamente um trabalho de preparação para tal ficam indefesos, um dia, perante esse ser terrível a que se chama o Guardião do Umbral. Na realidade, esse ser não é exterior a eles, ele existe em cada ser humano, é formado pela acumulação de todas as suas tendências inferiores: as invejas, a sensualidade, a agressividade, etc., e barra-lhe o caminho, não o deixa penetrar nessas regiões a que ele ainda não tem o direito de aceder.
Todos deverão um dia encontrar o Guardião do Umbral e enfrentá-lo. Ele está na nona séfira, Iesod. Ele ameaça, com a sua face terrível, o adepto presunçoso que procura aventurar-se em regiões onde só se pode entrar depois de se ter trabalhado para ter a pureza, o autodomínio, a força da alma. Só o discípulo detentor de conhecimentos e que conseguiu dominar os seus instintos inferiores consegue vencer o Guardião do Umbral. Basta um olhar: «Vai-te embora!» e ele desaparece, deixando livre o caminho para as alturas."

En realidad, este ser no es exterior a ellos, se encuentra en cada ser humano, está formado por la acumulación de todas sus tendencias inferiores: la codicia, la sensualidad, la agresividad, etc,… y le corta el camino, no le deja penetrar en esas regiones a las cuales no tiene derecho a acceder.
Cada uno debe un día encontrar al Guardián del Umbral y hacerle frente. Se encuentra en la novena séfira, Iesod. Amenaza con su espantoso rostro al adepto presuntuoso que pretende aventurarse en las regiones donde no se puede entrar hasta haber trabajado con la pureza, el dominio, la fuerza del alma. Sólo el discípulo armado de conocimientos y que ha conseguido dominar sus instintos inferiores, consigue vencer al Guardián del Umbral. Una mirada es suficiente: «¡Vete!» y desaparece, dejando libre el camino hacia las alturas. "
